04 Bimaxillary appliances

Bimaxillary appliances are used very often during the second stage of the transitional dentition. Therefore the growth of the facial bones as well as the high disposition of the tissue caused by the tooth eruption and the functional alignment of the parodont can be used ideally for an orthodontic treatment. The direction of the eruption of a tooth and maybe also the change of position of the jaws to each other can be influenced by the activator and its modifications (e.g. bionator, flexible-open activator, Teuscher-activator).
